On November 3, CCID Consulting launched its debut English-language publication,Foresight,at an event in Beijing. The inaugural issue takes “Commercialization” as its theme, focusing on six emerging fields—large language models, quantum computing, humanoid robots, civilian drones, hydrogen transportation, and autonomous driving. With a global perspective on technology shifts, the issue examines industry dynamics at a granular level, maps practical pathways through the commercialization chasm, and offers forward-looking insights from China to industry leaders, investors, and policymakers worldwide.
The value of technology is ultimatelydefined by themarket.
The value of technology is ultimately defined by the market. Today, the six fields are at different stages of commercial maturity: some are approaching a watershed moment, on the eve of large-scale deployment, while others are accelerating through the long tunnel from laboratory to market. In this context, the inaugural issue ofForesighttakes a deep dive into each of the six fields:
In the field of large language models,we track the critical shift in industry focus from a “scale race” to “precision intelligence”, helping enterprises move beyond an obsession with scale to achieve gains in both model efficiency and return on investment.
In the field of quantum computing,we map out the transition path from “quantum supremacy” to “quantum utility”, identifying the first industry use case with sustainable willingness to pay.
In the field of humanoid robots,we focus on the “subtraction” logic of the specialized approaches, re-examining the commercial common sense behind the market hype.
In the field of civilian drones,we examine the underlying concerns behind rapid market growth and assess the transition path from “one-off transactions” to “sustained value creation”.
In the field of hydrogen transportation,we separate physical limits from engineering challenges to chart a practical path past the bottleneck.
In the field of autonomous driving,we track the global profit landscape and identify the systemic capabilities required to move from “pilot testing” to “large-scale deployment”.
For nearly three decades, we have specialized in emerging-industry research, developing a holistic research system spanning new technologies, new business models, and new forms of business. Our work has consistently informed government decision-making, guided industrial practice, and served global investors. Through exchanges with international peers, multinational corporations, and overseas institutions, we have come to appreciate more deeply that valuable insights should not be confined by language barriers, and that meaningful dialogue requires a shared voice. That is precisely why we launchedForesight: to share our research with a global audience and contribute CCID’s perspectives and insights to the international industrial dialogue.
Foresightis more than seeing ahead; it is seeing through. We do not merely observe from the sidelines; we cut through surface noise to identify what matters—staying clear-eyed amid the clutter and discerning trends through change. Going forward,Foresightwill continue to deliver forward-looking insights into frontier technologies, identify the key questions shaping global industrial transformation, and provide international readers with a trusted basis for decision-making through professional, independent, and forward-looking research. We will workwith global partners to seize the historic opportunities of our time.
